C022558 WWI "CANADIAN MEDICAL CORPS" COLLAR DOG.
BACKGROUND:
Every infantry or armored regiment had its own insignia.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped brass collar dog, about 1 9/16" by 1", which consists of the Rod of Aesculapius (a serpent entwined about a rod) surrounded by a wreath of maple leaves to whose base is a scroll with the inscription "Canadian Medical Corps" all surmounted by a Kings crown. The reverse is a mirror image of the obverse with dual soldered copper mounting prongs. Other than some remnants of cleaner to the recesses on the reverse, the badge is in good condition with an overall age patina that brings out the highlights.
