C021657 ITALIAN AMMO POUCH.

BACKGROUND: In March 1919 Benito Mussolini established the, Fascio di Combattimento, (Union of Combatants), political party in Milan and fascism was born in Italy and following the infamous "March on Rome", on October 28TH 1922 Mussolini became the supreme leader of the country. On May 22ND 1939 Mussolini’s Italy and Hitler’s Germany signed the "Pact of Steel" linking their countries destinies together in the upcoming war. As with the other nations individuals serving in the Italian armed forces were issued cartridge belt sets in order to carry extra ammunition.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A dual pocket, medium green/grey leather, WWII, ammunition pouch, each pocket having a top fold-over flap to which is riveted a strap with a stud hole which mates with the, blackened steel, stud to the bottom of each pouch. Each pouch is approximately 3" x 2 1/4" x 3 1/4". To the upper center of their single-piece reverse is riveted a short tab with a "D" ring. Riveted to the reverse of each pouch are vertical belt loops. Other than a couple of storage scuff mark and oxidization to the steel parts the pouch is in excellent unused condition.
