C019157 DUTCH KMA TRAINING CANTEEN.

BACKGROUND: The Koninklijke Militaire Academie (KMA) is the Royal Netherlands Military Academy. It has been training Officers for the military since the early 1800s. Since 1826 it has been located in the castle of Breda and now takes care of the education and training of the officers of the Dutch Airforce (KLu) and the Dutch army (KL).

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: This tooled aluminum construction canteen, about .8 liter capacity, has a green felt and cloth cover and a leather belt harness. The roughly, 8 3/4" tall, 5 1/2" wide, 3" thick, vertically oval, tooled, natural aluminum construction canteen is contained in a slightly mottled, greenish felt cover with six alloy, closure snaps, three to each side of the neck, and a horizontal and vertical crossed, brown leather harness with belt loop. The serial number "K M A 7 1" has been stamped to the neck of the canteen, into the leather of the harness and stenciled to a piece of cloth sewn to the inside of the felt cover making this a matched set. The canteen is in very good condition while the leather harness starting to stiffen it is in good condition but the felt cover has moderate to heavy mothing mostly to the areas under the straps and the cork in the canteen appears to be a replacement.
