C015659 ITALIAN OFFICER'S SERVICE TUNIC & BREECHES. Nice example of a pre WW2 Italian officers (1st Lt) uniform from the Superga Div. Infantry No 1. Tunic dates from the 1920 to 1930 period. The tunic features four exterior pockets, a five-button single-breasted hidden front closure, a closed neck stand-up collar. All buttons are complete and look to have their original stitching. The pleated patch breast and hip pockets each have straight-edged flaps. The 30mm x 100mm collar tabs are constructed of brown/gold and white rayon and each have a single star. The sewn-on shoulder straps are of the same material as the tunic, piped in red wool and each have two metal rank stars. A vertical tail skirt vent is to the reverse. The unmarked interior is fully lined in grey rayon and has a vertical slash pocket to the left breast. Roughly a size 32. Breeches are high quality grey/green wool/rayon blend with a gaberdine weave. Breeches feature a four button French fly with additional 2 buttons and metal hook and eye at waistband. Interior fly panel also has an extended fabric tab with dual buttons and a corresponding fabric tab with dual button holes. Breeches have a reverse pleat to each side of fly, a horizontal slash pocket below the right waistband and vertical slash side seam pockets with hidden button closures. Rear right seat has two horizontal slash pockets with button closures. Breeches balloon at thighs and taper down to cuffs. Outside leg seams with 2" wide vertical black velvet stripes with narrow red wool piping to center running from waistband to cuffs. Cuffs have an inside seam slash with fabric tie tapes. Breeches in overall very good condition. Buttons are all wooden and all have original stitching. Breeches roughly size 32" waist. Nice early set.
