C011256 WWI CANADIAN ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE DRESS TUNIC. A red wool tunic with an eight brass button front closure leading to a hook and bar closure at the throat, where a black, protective flap is sewn to the left interior of its stand-up collar. Each of its doubled golden cord shoulder straps are sewn, at their bases, to the shoulders and had buttons, at their formed loops, near the neck. Both have thin, red wool underlays sewn to them, the left shoulder strap is sewn to the shoulder along its entire length, and the button to the right shoulder strap is presently absent. The remaining 11/16" diameter brass button to the left shoulder strap, and the 1" diameter ones to the front closure, each have a King’s crown to their convex center, encircled by a stylized belt with a buckle to its base and "Truth Duty Valour" along its length, which is, in turn, encircled by "Royal Military College" and "Canada." "Made In England," as well as "Sword Make" and "Trade Mark" to either side of crossed swords, with "Crossed" and "Swords" above and below them, is stamped to the flat reverse of each of the buttons. White piping runs along the left side of the front closure, and rises to the waistline along either seam to the back. Where the piping stops at the waistline there are two additional buttons, identical to those to the front closure. A small, horizontal slash watch pocket is along the seam of the waistline to the right front panel. Both the stand-up collar and cuffs are faced in black velvet and outlined in gold tress and white piping. The cuffs also feature golden cord outlining their white piping, which rises and loops decoratively where it comes to a point. The interior, above the waistline, is fully lined in quilted, grey cotton, and its sleeves in pin-striped white cotton. A vertical slash pocket is to the interior left breast. "1084" with "9-6-4" beneath it, is ink stamped to a square, white cotton patch sewn to the interior right breast. An ink stamp of the lower number is repeated to the partial, white wool lining beneath the interior waistline, which is heavily moth damaged. The grey, quilted lining has a small hole and a larger tear to it. The protective flap sewn to the interior of the stand-up collar, and the collar itself at that edge, have tears to them. The exterior of the tunic is moderately nap worn, and has numerous moth nips, most noticeably along the left edge of its front closure, both shoulders, the cuffs, and along the base. Approximately a size 36.
