C009958 ESTONIAN FIRE POLICE EM'S M1910 GREATCOAT. A nice quality, heavy, M1910, black wool construction, double breasted style, full length, greatcoat with a lay down collar piped in red. The greatcoat features dual, vertical, parallel, rows of six front closure buttons with corresponding button holes on the left and right front panels. The greatcoat has small fold back lapels and a single metal hook and eye at the neck. There are two, horizontal slash, front, hip pockets with straight edge flaps situated at the waistline. The straight cut sleeves have simulated French cuffs which are piped in red at the upper edge. The reverse of the greatcoat has a horizontal, half waist belt with two retaining buttons at the waistline and a central, vertical tail skirt vent with a five button closure. The tail skirt vent runs from just below the half waist belt down to the bottom edge of the coat. To the shoulders are sewn in shoulder boards, piped in red, with retaining buttons. The coat has a large lay down cloth collar with zig-zag reinforcement stitching to the reverse. Sewn to each side of the collar are, 1 1/4" by 3 3/4", red collar tabs which have a single button to the top. The interior of the coat is partially lined with ribbed black cotton twill to the upper panels and the same material to the sleeves. The lining has a horizontal slash pocket to each breast with the right hand pocket having a black rayon/cotton blend patch, about 5 1/2" tall by 4" wide, to which has been embroidered in gold the stylized overlapped letters "A V". All of the buttons are gilt alloy capped, steel, shank buttons, with the exception of the shoulder board buttons that are a gilt stamped alloy, and are all embossed with a wreath, to whose center is a, gladiator style, fireman’s helmet superimposed over a pair of crossed fire axes, all surmounted by a shield with three lions passant guardant (Estonian Shield). The greatcoat is in very good condition with small areas of minor to light nap wear and minor age and usage toning. The greatcoat is roughly size 40" chest.
