C009158 ESTONIAN FIRE POLICE M1910 VISOR CAP.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
A black, crusher style, visor cap with a one-piece crown piped in red, a four-piece body with seams at each of its cardinal points, a red felt, center band, and a pressed fibre visor with a black faux leather finish on top and a diagonal pattern underneath. The cap has a single steel button above the left ear which has embossed to it three lions that represent Estonia while over the right ear is the remnants of thread from the other button. Mounted to the front center band is a gilt, alloy, cap badge, that consists of a wreath, to whose center is a, gladiator style, fireman’s helmet superimposed over a pair of crossed fire axes, all surmounted by a shield with three lions passant guardant (Estonian Shield). To the interior is a 1 1/4" wide brown leather sweatband which is complete and in good condition although it is stiffening with age. Under the sweatband are folded news papers, that are printed in a gothic script in a Germanic language, that appear to have been used as a spacer or padding. The interior is completely lined in a burgundy cotton cloth. The cap is in fairly good condition although it is missing a button and the chinstrap, has some minor nap wear, some fading to the top of the visor and a few moth holes and wear to the center band.GRADE*** PRICE $75.00
