C008161 WWII BRITISH RAF SIDE CAP. Dark blue wool construction cap is 26cm long. The cap features fold-down sides and back panels, held in place with small blackened brass hooks fed through blackened brass grommets on each side of the crown, scalloping towards where it is buttoned in the front. Behind the front double button closure is a small fold-down visor. Both of the two small brass buttons are embossed with a King’s crown over an eagle in flight. On the left side are two pins; an eagle in flight with the Kings Crown above. To the interior of the cap, its sweatband is navy blue velvet cotton twill, and its lining is also navy blue cotton. It looks to have perhaps been a private purchase. There is mothing along the right and left side. It is obvious that the cap is well used. Nice worn example that actually saw service use.
