C001958 BRITISH PARATROOPERS QUALIFICATION WINGS.
BACKGROUND:
Every regiment, arm or service had its own insignia. The paratroopers badge was introduced in 1940 and was awarded for the completion of 7 jumps, 4 from an airplane and 3 from an observation balloon, in complete field gear.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A khaki wool cloth badge, about 1 1/2" by 3 5/8", with a machine embroidered image of a white parachute with a pair of sky blue wings on the front. The reverse of the badge has a white vinyl like backing. The badge has a light usage soiling and stitch holes around the edge but has no edge fraying and is still in good condition.
