C001858 BRITISH FIVE PLACE RIBBON BAR. A four place ribbon bar consisting of a 1939-45 Star, awarded for 180 days of service between the 3^rd of September, 1939 and the 2^nd of March, an Africa Star, awarded for 1 or more days service in North Africa between the 10^th of June, 1940 and the 12^th of May 1943, an Italy Star, awarded for service in Sicily or Italy between the 11^th of June ,1943 and the 8^th of May, 1945, a Defence Medal, awarded for 3 years' service at home or 6 months' service overseas and a British War Medal, 1939-1945, awarded to full-time personnel for serving at least 28 days in the Armed Forces or the Merchant marines. The ribbons have been hand stitched on a brass plate which has a pin-back mounting device. The ribbons are fairly clean but the green has faded on the Italy Star and the Defence Medal ribbons.
