K19054 BOATSWAIN/SMALLER VESSEL GUN CHIEF EM'S PHOTOGRAPH. (Photographie) 

BACKGROUND: Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc. 

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 8 3/8" x 6", black and white portrait style photograph of a young, seated, enlisted man wearing a white "Donald Duck" cap, white jumper shirt with white striped navy blue collar dickie, black kerchief and navy blue pants. The visible uniform details include the cap insignia including a "Schnellbootsflotilla", (Torpedo Boat Flotilla), cap talley, a Boatswains career sleeve insignia and a smaller gun vessel chief’s specialty sleeve insignia. Also just visible is what appears to be a pin back, metal breast eagle. The photograph is in overall good condition with light age yellowing and what appears to be semi-translucent glue remnants.
