K18954 TORPEDO MECHANIC NCO'S PHOTOGRAPH. (Photographie)

BACKGROUND: Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 7" x 5", black and white portrait style photograph of a young NCO wearing a navy blue pea jacket. The visible uniform details include the collar tress and collar tabs, the metal Torpedo mechanics career sleeve insignia and the fouled anchor buttons. Also just visible is the white striped, navy blue collar dickie. The photograph is in overall good condition with light age yellowing.
