J11350 (IJA) COMPANY AND BATTALION COMMANDER'S BREAST BADGE. Worn on the lower right hand breast area or pocket, this attractive badge is constructed of two pieces of polished aluminum with a third, brass, affixation. The convex obverse is in the form of a 1 3/4" x 1 3/8" vertical oval with twenty-four rays projecting from its center. Fixed over the rays is an open-topped wreath, bound at its base and with chrysanthemums to its top. A brass five-pointed star is pinned to the center of the projecting rays and is surrounded by the aforementioned wreath. To the reverse is a broad, vertical attachment clip, hinged at its top and with a slot to its base which passes through a corresponding ring, where a small cotter pin holds it in place. Unmarked. Age darkening is evident the obverse, but this only serves to highlight the details of the polished aluminum.
