J07453 (IJN) EM'S WHITE SIDE CAP.
A white canvas construction side cap as used by the Japanese navy. A black anchor is machine woven against the white base of a 1 5/8" tall, vertical oval patch sewn to its front. The doubled canvas chin strap, whose ends are sewn over each ear, is in the same color and material as the rest of the cap, and is complete with its two adjustment loops. The short, unstiffened visor is also made of the same material as the body, and it has five, parallel, reinforcing stitch lines to it. Three reinforced ventilation holes are to either side of its crown. The reverse seam of the cap has been sewn together where a 1 1/2" slit, flanked by eyelets for an adjusting tie string to pass through, would normally be exposed. This arrangement may be seen to the interior. The unlined interior has a 1 7/8" x 2 1/4" white oilcloth tag sewn to its crown, upon which is ink stamped five vertical divisions, all of which include kanji characters. Among them are what appears to be a January of 1942 date. Its sweatband, in the same material as the remainder of the cap, is complete. Light to moderate age yellowing and soiling is evident throughout, but there is no noticeable staining, tears or repairs. Untouched & nice.GRADE ***3/4 PRICE $395.00
