J06350 (IJA) MOUNTED PERSONNEL'S SADDLE STIRRUPS. A pair of metal stirrups with their thick brown leather straps. The stirrups, which are roughly "D"-shaped with an ovular bottom, had been painted a light grey, of which 80% is retained. Most of the wear to the paint is, unsurprisingly, localized around their bases. The 1 1/8" wide and approximately 53" long leather straps are fed through a ring to the top of each stirrup. A leather retaining loop fixed by a metal fastener is slid close to where each of them are fed through the rings. Each strap has twenty buckling holes, with a twenty-first added to one of them, and is secured by single-pronged metal buckle. The leather is age darkened, and exhibits some cracking and edge wear, but is still generally supple. No discernable markings are to either the metal or leather components.
