J04654 (IJA) FLIGHT PANTS. A pair of unlined, medium brown cotton flight trousers. They have a three wooden button French fly, with a fourth wooden button to the waist, zippered vertical slash side seam pockets, a shallow "V" slash to the rear waist, and four belt loops. The pants come equipped with dual woven fabric belts, one end of each sewn into the seams above the hip pockets, that wrap around the entire waist line. To the front of both thighs are pleated patch pockets whose top openings are diagonally angled. 11" vertical slashes with zippers and wind flaps are to the bottom of each pant leg. All of the zipper closures work, and all have short "pulls," in the same material as the trousers, looped through their tabs. The zippered side seam pockets have no pocket bags, presumably allowing access to pocketed trousers worn underneath. The interior fly, crotch, and waistband are lined in white cotton, with kanji, which include "Showa" era 18th year (1943) characters, ink stamped along the left forward waistband. Very light age soiling and wrinkling is evident, but they appear to have been unissued. Roughly a 37" waist.
