J010557 (IJA) EM/NCO'S TROPICAL SHIRT. The tropical weight, olive drab cotton, long-sleeved shirt has a four wooden button single-breasted front closure and a lay-down collar. Patch pockets are to each breast, each with a buttonholed, straight-edged flap mating with a wooden button. 7 1/4" vertical seam slashes are underneath each armpit, each with a buttonhole to one side and an olive drab bakelite button to the other. A pleat is to the upper back. Ink stamped to the interior left of the front closure is the kanji character indicating size "large," beneath which is a partially discernible horizontal rectangle within which is what appears to be a "Showa 19th year" (1944) date, and beneath that is an equally indiscernible vertical rectangle and cartouche, each with characters within them. The shirt is in excellent, evidently unissued condition, with only light storage wrinkling and soiling. Roughly a size 40.
