J00855 (IJA) OFFICER'S SHIPPING BREAST BADGE. A high quality, embroidered badge for army sea-borne troops, 3 1/8" across, in the form of a silver wire anchor, flanked by gilt wire anchor chains, with a five-pointed metal star affixed to the center, all mounted on a medium blue wool backing material. A purple paper backing is to its reverse. Light age darkening and soiling may be seen to its obverse, but the insignia has no significant wear to it, or evidence of it ever having been used.
