J00755 (IJA) AVIATOR "AIRMAN'S" WINGS. Flight service wings, 3 3/8" across, introduced in October 1943 for all flying personnel serving with the IJA Air Service. Worn by both pilots and crew, the insignia is comprised of machine woven, stylized silver wings to each side of a yellow wreath of laurels, which surround a five-pointed yellow star, beneath which is a silver propeller, all on a medium blue base. A paper backing is to its reverse. The obverse is moderately worn and soiled, with its base being color faded and nap worn, its yellow wreath and star significantly darkened, and its silver elements no longer being bright. Rough but real.
