J006957 (IJN) OFFICER'S VISOR CAP INSIGNIA. A convex brass cap badge on a 2 3/8" wide and 1 7/8" tall, dark navy blue wool backing. The badge itself (this particular model introduced in 1942) is comprised of a wreath of laurels, whose berries are washed in silver, and to whose open top is a silver washed cherry blossom, all enclosing a fouled anchor. The reverse of the wool backing is in black oilcloth, where the impressions from the attachment prongs of the two-piece badge may be seen, as well as glue remnants. The badge is lightly age soiled and darkened, and where it has silver wash, it has light wear to its highlights. The wool backing is significantly nap worn and age soiled, and is noticeably frayed along its edges.
