J006558 (IJA) CASED LIEUTENANT'S DRESS UNIFORM SHOULDER BOARDS. A pair of full dress shoulder boards, within their original case. Each of the boards are 5 1/2" long, 1 7/16" wide, and approximately 9/16" thick. They are both comprised of interwoven golden cords, with a decorative, golden-colored convex alloy button to one end and two, silver-colored alloy, five-pointed stars affixed along their centers. This configuration indicated the rank of Lieutenant. Each of their undersides are lined in black wool and have, hinged at one end, 4 3/16" x 5/8" brass or brass colored alloy tabs to them. The cut-outs to the free ends of these tabs mate with smaller tabs positioned to the underside of the buttoned ends of the boards, although one of these is absent. The boards are lightly age and usage soiled, with some light fraying, and their stars have dulled somewhat. They are nested within separate compartments to the interior of their original storage case. The 3 15/16" x 6 5/8" x 1 1/2" softwood case, which separates along its sides, exhibits light surface scratching and age soiling.
