J006461 (IJN) SPECIAL NAVAL LANDING FORCES RUCKSACK. An olive drab canvas rucksack, 48cm wide when laid flat, and 56cm tall. A roughly 20cm square fold-over flap, also in olive drab canvas and whose forward corners are rounded, is sewn along the rear edge of the rucksack’s open top. To the leading edge of the flap is sewn a short loop, which a 14cm long canvas tape sewn to the front center of the sack itself would thread through. Beneath this tape is an 21cm x 23cm "saddlebag" pocket, to the leading edge of whose flap is another loop, mating with a 14cm long tape sewn to the pocket’s front. To the base of the rucksack are sewn the bases of 50mm wide shoulder straps, whose other ends are sewn beneath a pentagonal panel to the upper part of the reverse of the sack. Ten reinforced eyes are sewn along the edge of the open top of the rucksack, through each of which is threaded an adjusting tape. The rucksack has light age and usage wear. Nice example.
