J006458 (IJA) MAJOR'S DRESS UNIFORM SHOULDER BOARDS. A pair of full dress shoulder boards, each of which are 5 5/8" long, 2 1/4" wide, and approximately 15/16" thick. They are both comprised of dual, interwoven golden cords, with a decorative, golden-colored convex alloy button to one end and a silver-colored alloy, five-pointed star affixed to their centers. This configuration indicated the rank of Major. Each of their undersides are lined in black wool and have, hinged at one end, 4 5/8" x 15/16" nickel-silver plated alloy tabs to them. The cut-outs to the free ends of these tabs mate with smaller tabs positioned to the underside of the buttoned ends of the boards. The boards are lightly to moderately age and usage soiled, with one having some picks to its material, and the finish to one of its stars is noticeably worn.
