J006358 (IJA) CASED LIEUTENANT'S DRESS UNIFORM SHOULDER BOARDS. A pair of full dress shoulder boards, within their original case. Each of the boards are 5 1/2" long, 1 11/16" wide, and approximately 3/4" thick. They are both comprised of interwoven cords, one gold in color, the other silver, with a decorative, golden-colored convex alloy button to one end and two, golden-colored alloy, five-pointed stars affixed along their centers. This configuration indicated the rank of Lieutenant. Each of their undersides are lined in black wool and have, hinged at one end, 4 1/8" x 13/16" nickel-silver plated alloy tabs to them. The cut-outs to the free ends of these tabs mate with smaller tabs positioned to the underside of the buttoned ends of the boards. The boards are lightly age and usage soiled, with their silver cords having darkened with age, and their stars have dulled somewhat. They are wrapped in tissue paper within the interior of their original storage case. The 4 1/4" x 6 5/8" x 1 7/8", cardboard case, with a removable lid, is featureless but for moderate age and usage soiling, a small tear along one of its sides, and some water staining. It is otherwise intact.
