J006258 (IJA) CASED MAJOR'S DRESS UNIFORM SHOULDER BOARDS. A pair of full dress shoulder boards, within their original case. Each of the boards are 5 1/2" long, 2 3/16" wide, and approximately 7/8" thick. They are both comprised of dual, interwoven golden cords, with a decorative, golden-colored convex alloy button to one end and a silver-colored alloy, five-pointed star affixed to their centers. This configuration indicated the rank of Major. Each of their undersides are lined in black wool and have, hinged at one end, 4 1/2" x 1" nickel-silver plated alloy tabs to them. The cut-outs to the free ends of these tabs mate with smaller tabs positioned to the underside of the buttoned ends of the boards. The boards are very lightly age and usage soiled. They are wrapped in tissue paper within the interior of their original storage case. The 5 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 1 3/4", cardboard case has a removable lid, upon which is glued a 1 3/4" x 2 1/8" paper tag, within whose decorative border are ink stamped several kanji characters. A 1 5/16" x 15/16" paper tag is glued to the forward end of the case, with the same characters ink stamped to it. The exterior of the case is lightly age and usage soiled, but is otherwise intact.
