J005560 (IJN) EM/NCO'S PUTTEES. Two, approximately 90" x 3 1/2", dark blue wool "puttees," known to their original wearers as "Makikyahan." Each have one rounded end, the other pointed, from the latter proceeding approximately 51 1/2" x 3/4" blue colored tie tapes. White diamond shaped tags are sewn to both with the original owners name hand written on in kanji. The puttees would have been spirally wrapped around the wearer’s legs, with these tapes then crossed over the shin of the wearer before being tied off. Nice matched pair of Navy puttees.
