J005159 (IJN) CAPTAINS FULL DRESS FORE AND AFT HAT, EPAULETS AND ORIGINAL STORAGE BOX. Complete 1911 pattern private tailor made set. 

(1) The cap is constructed from simulated beaver pelt in the typical fore and aft style. Completely edged with a 4cm wide black stylized embroidered band. One the wearers left side are two coiled loops, one in bullion and the other in silver. In the center of this is another double coiled bullion loop which is affixed by a gilt IJN anchor button. Two guilt wire tassels, one to the front and one to the rear. Cap is fully lined in white silk and has the original owners name in finely hand stitched embroidery. Complete brown leather sweatband with silk tie-string to the rear.. 

(2) Captains epaulet’s are constructed from a gold woven fabric with gilt, coiled, wire braid to each. One large red cherry blossom and two silver mums with the IJN anchor device to each epaulet, all finely hand embroidered. The reverse is finished in black leather and a dark blue crushed velvet. Gold embossed kanji makers marks. Complete with their hinged metal attachment devices.. 

(3). The hinged carrying box is constructed from canvas covered backing material with leather reinforced corners and edging. Two closing latches and one locking device to the front of the case, all in working order. Leather strap to the top of the case is missing. The case is completely lined in a white cloth material with a round leather embossed makers tag. 

(4) Also included is the original metal carrying housing for the epaulets. Constructed from a red paint tin material. There are two padded areas for the mounting of the epaulets and a wire handle so it can be removed from the case easily to gain access to the hat which is stored underneath. Set shows normal age, use and period wear. Very attractive.
