J005157 (IJN) REAR ADMIRAL'S COLLAR TAB. An approximately 1 1/2" x 7/8" collar tab, upon whose black wool base are sewn two horizontal bands of gold-colored tress, one immediately alongside the other, together creating a 5/8" wide bar. Pinned near one end of the tab and along the seam line of the two bands is an alloy, five-petaled cherry blossom, it, with the wide bar, signifying the rank of Rear Admiral. The edges of the wool tab are wrapped and glued around a cardboard stiffener, visible to the reverse, which the dual prongs from the cherry blossom pierce, and over which are binding threads. All of the exposed wool appears to be moderately nap worn and lightly frayed. The tress has darkened to a copper color, with light wear visible to its highlights, and the cherry blossom has lost whatever wash it may have had, presently having a dull bronze color.
