J003559 (IJA) EM/NCO'S ANKLE BOOTS. A pair of 1939 pattern, russet brown leather, ankle-height boots with stacked leather soles and heels. The four-piece stitched uppers have five alloy lacing grommets to either side of their tongues, through which the original laces are still attached. "10?" (the shoe size in units of "mon," a Japanese coin) may be seen hole-punched along their inside ankles. A single leather pull tab, with a buttonhole-like perforation, is to the upper back of each boot. The soles complete with original hobnails. Impressed to each instep are three vertical columns of kanji characters within a circle. Boots measure approximately 27.5 cm from toe-tip to heal. Original leather laces are included. Near mint.
