J003557 JAPANESE 7 X 7.1 BINOCULARS. Alloy binoculars, the better part of whose body is covered in black leatherette, with its exposed brass elements painted black. Its ocular lenses, the right which has a chip to its black bakelite eyepiece, are adjusted individually. Through the right eyepiece may be seen a reticle pattern, graded for + and - 30 degrees along its vertical axis, and + and - 40 degrees along its horizontal. Although the optics appear clear, chips to the left lens are evident when viewed through its objective. Stamped, in white, to the upper surface of the left housing is "To" and "Ko" separated by a stylized, triangular logo, with a serial number beneath it. To the upper surface of the right housing is similarly stamped "7x" (indicating the power) and "7.1" (being the field of view in degrees). To the front of the central pin are degree markings between 58 and 70, for adjusting the eye width. To the flat surface of the other end of this pin has been scratched what must be the liberator’s name or initials. A piece of its covering leatherette is absent to the left housing, and edge wear is evident to all of its painted brass elements.
