J00355 JAPANESE SOLDIERS PHOTOGRAPH. A 4 5/16" x 2 7/8", black and white, posed photograph of four Imperial Japanese infantrymen, three standing and one sitting, before a wooden building. They are all wearing visor caps and what appear to be Type 5 (1930) tunics with Type 98 (1938) rank insignia sewn to either side of their collars. All of the visible ranks are for a second class private. Two of them wear leather belts with bayonets, and the three whose left breast pockets are visible each have what must be unit tags sewn to them. The reverse of the photograph is featureless but for the remnants of black paper from its removal from an album. Typical age yellowing and soiling is evident to the obverse.
