J003058 (IJN) SPECIAL NAVAL LANDING FORCES CANTEEN. Aluminum canteen with a screw-off cap, an olive drab, lace-up canvas cover, and carrying strap. The black-painted cap has a knob to its top, to which is attached a similarly-painted aluminum chain retainer, attached at its other end by a triangular aluminum loop to the carrying strap. The cover also has three cloth loops, one to either side and the third to the base, to secure the carrying strap. The webbed carrying strap has an alloy ring to one end, through which the other end passes and folds back upon itself, then being retained by both a fabric loop and a free-floating alloy ring. Nice honest combat vet.
