J001459 (IJA) TYPE 90 COMBAT HELMET. The type 90 was the standard WWII Japanese infantry combat helmet. The shell, constructed from chrome molybend steel, retains about 95% of its original matt finish olive drab paint. The IJA metal star affixed to the front is painted the same as the shell. The three pad pigskin liner and band is complete to the interior, with no cracking or tearing. The liner pads each have their original cloth padding bags and tie tapes attached, with the original padding inside. The helmet is complete with its original cloth chinstrap, showing light to moderate age soiling, liner tie-string and all rivets and rings. A kanji character for size "large" indication, is stamped to the rear interior apron. A white-painted kanji character, which is a repetition of the size, may be seen alongside the stamped size marking. Almost all of its original paint has been retained to the interior, with the wear mostly to the apron edge. Comes with it original hand written capture tag " JAP BATTLE HELMET SASBO, JAPAN NOVEMBER, 1945". Superb example, untouched.
