J001158 YOUTH BANNER. An approximately 38 1/2" x 27", dual-ply, green silk banner, with thickly and intricately woven orange fringe to all but its hoist edge. To the center of either side is printed an eight-pointed, undulating white border to a wreath of green leaves with yellow flowers, with a yellow bow to their base, all enclosing, in yellow, the stylized character for "green," "unripe" or "inexperienced." Along either hoist edge is a column of eight white characters, the second and third being those for "noted" and "village," the sixth a repetition of that to the center of the banner, and the eighth that for "association." The hoist edge itself has a bamboo stiffening rod along it, and features triangular reinforcements, in golden-colored leather, sewn to its top, bottom and center, to each of which is riveted the brass base to an eye unto which an attachment clip is fixed. Light verdigris may be seen to each of these brass bases. A tear to one side of the hoist edge reveals the bamboo rod within. The banner has only one other very small hole to it, but light age and usage soiling is evident throughout.
