J001062 (IJN) PETTY OFFICER'S "GREEN" LATE SIDE CAP. An olive drab canvas construction side cap as used by the Japanese navy. A anchor with a cherry blossom to its center is machine woven on a 40mm tall, vertical oval patch sewn to its front. A 11mm, horizontal blue rank band is sewn above the edge of the cap its entire circumference, signifying the rank of Petty Officer. The doubled canvas chin strap, whose ends are sewn over each ear, is in the same color and material as the rest of the cap, and is complete with its two adjustment loops. The short, unstiffened visor is also made of the same material as the body, and it has five, parallel, reinforcing stitch lines to it. The cap has two reinforced ventilation holes to either side of its crown. Two reinforced eyelets are on either side of a 30mm slit to the reverse, where an olive drab tie string would have been there for size adjustment. String is missing. Interior of the cap is unmarked. Its sweatband, in the same material as the cap, is complete with no discernable soiling. Near mint.
