J000859 (IJA) OFFICER'S FIELD SERVICE CAP. Early to mid-war, olive drab, wool construction cap, with hand embroidered yellow army pattern star, sewn to the front. All original stitching. Brown leather chin strap is complete with its two gilt colored officer’s cherry blossom metal buttons. The visor is made of the same material as the body. Three ventilation holes with reinforced stitching are to either side of the crown. Two holes with reinforced stitching are on either side of a 1 1/2" slit to the reverse, where a tie string is looped between them for size adjustment. All four of the subtle, original attachment loops for the neck flap are intact. Interior is lined with a course weave, muslin type material. Sewn to the top of the liner is the original issue tag. It is complete with its original stiff cloth type sweat band. Cap is in superb condition. Nice.
