G08955 WÜRTTEMBERG OFFICER'S BELT BUCKLE. (Koppel)
BACKGROUND: The Kingdom of Württemberg was one of the few States to retain its own distinctive buckle designs until the end of the First World War in 1918. Most of the other States ended up adopting the Prussian style buckle.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Decent example of a "type1" officers buckle for the Kingdom of Württemberg. 45mm, multi-piece, die-cast construction. Crowned "W" monogram for Wilhelm II is attached by two prongs, through holes in the center of the buckle. Interestingly, the buckle has four holes.. Which is fairly typical for a type one, as they could be used as the base buckle for any Kingdom just by changing the insignia to the front. Buckle retails about 50% of its original silvered finish. Belt attachment end buckle is complete, being crimped on to the reverse. Untouched and nicely tarnished, nice.
