G08754 REMEMBRANCE CARD. (Erinnerungskarten)
BACKGROUND: A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. These would be distributed to friends and family as a memorial item
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: This is a black and white card that is approximately 4" high by 2 ½" wide. On the front it states that Georg Schnaus was 21 when he died for the fatherland. To the reverse is a printed illustration of an angel regarding a dead soldier, with the Gothic script, "Wer hat eine grössere Liebe als der, welcher sein Leben hingibt für seine Freunde?" (Who has a greater Love than he, who his Life sacrificed for his Friends?). This card is in good condition with edge wear and minor yellowing caused by age. There is also minor surface soiling.
