PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: This black and white card is 4" high by 2 ½" wide. There is an oval portrait of the deceased at the top while beneath it indicates that he died a hero’s death for the Fatherland in the struggle at Chenin des Dames on the Aisne, in the 20th year of his life. The condition is quite good, with minor yellowing caused by age, and the edges have minor wear. The reverse is a picture of an angel over a deceased soldier. The inscription below coincides with the front remark that he died for the Fatherland.
