G08055 MAUSER C96 "BROOM HANDLE" PISTOL HOLSTER & CLEANING ROD. (Pistolentaschen) 

BACKGROUND: The C96 Mauser was first developed in 1890 and used extensively through the First World War, it even saw service well into the 1940's with Police units and other nations. Various types and styles of holsters were introduced through-out its service life. App 150,000 C96's were in service with the German army by 1918.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Superb example of a very hard to find, WW1 German issue, open frame holster. All multi-piece sewn leather construction. App 14" x 6". Separate magazine compartment to front, side cleaning tool compartment (with original cleaning tool). Top fold over strap & stud device to hold pistol in place. Reverse of the holster has its original two sewn on belt loops. Also present are two straps and brass buckles that would have attached to a cross strap. (One of these straps looks to maybe be period repaired). Berlin maker marked and dated for 1915.
