G03154 IMPERIAL SOLDIER'S SONG BOOK.
(Liederbuch) A 4 1/4" x 6", softcover, sixty-four page booklet, whose cover features an illustration of a Pickelhaube-wearing soldier with his arm around a young woman, while a parade of soldiers lead by four drummers pass in the background. Beneath the image is the title, "Kamerad, komm! (Comrade, come!), followed by "Soldaten- und Vaterlandleider" (Soldier’s- and Fatherland-songs), "1914" and "1915" separated by "Mit Melodien" (With Melodies), and "Verlag von Paul Zschocher in Leipzig" (Publication of Paul Zschocher in Leipzig). The first page repeats the information to the cover, along with the publisher’s logo, "Preis 10 Pfg." (Price 10 Pfennigs), "Ausgabe für Klavier 1 Mark" (Edition for Piano 1 Mark), and "Alle Rechte vorbehalten" (All Rights reserved). An index is to the next page, which includes alternate song titles and first lines. Among the almost seventy selections within, some of which are to both inside covers and the back cover, is "Deutschland über alles," "Die Wacht am Rhein," "Ich hatt’ ein Kamaraden," several "Landsturmleid," and "Kamarad, komm!" Most of the selections include their musical notation. Light to moderate age yellowing and soiling is to the pages, more so to the covers. The original owner’s name is handwritten to the first page, there are circular marks to the lower right of the front cover, and a noticeable stain may be seen across the back cover. The covers and all of the pages, however, are intact and perfectly legible.GRADE ***1/2 PRICE $112.00
