G03053 PHOTOGRAPH POSTCARD.
(Postkarte) A 5 3/8" x 3 7/16" printed postcard, to whose obverse is a black and white portrait photograph of a Saxon Uhlan, astride his horse, against a wooded background. The rider wears a "Shapka" on his head, with cockade and chin scales, and a star which may indicate that he was attached to one of Uhlan regiments 17, 18, or 21. He also wears a pre-war, double-breasted "Ulanka," with collar Litzen but no shoulder boards, and a belt and white cross strap. A handwritten note, in Sütterlin script, is to the left of the rider. To the reverse is an address and a longer note, also in Sütterlin script, along with "Leipzig" and a "1914" date. Its postage stamp has been removed, although part of an ink stamp may be seen alongside of where it had been. Typical age soiling is evident, as well as minor edge wear, but there are no creases or stains.GRADE **** PRICE $26.00
