G014057 THREE PLACE RIBBON "BUTTONAIRE" WITH MINIATURES. (Bandknopf Gruppe) A blackened metal button, 5/8" in diameter, to which is connected three ribbed moire ribbons, each approximately 9/16" wide, layered one upon the other and bound in the middle, creating a horizontal length of 1 1/4". The uppermost is the ribbon for the 1914 Iron Cross (second class), beneath which is a blue ribbon with red stripes near either edge (which is most likely for the Honor Cross of Peter Frederick Louis), and the ribbon to the base is that for the 1914/18 Cross of Honor. These horizontal ribbons are bound by a vertical Cross of Honor ribbon, over which is fixed gilt-colored crossed swords, indicating a combatant. It would appear that all of the gilt coloring, although somewhat dulled with age, has been retained. The exposed portions of the ribbons are lightly but noticeably soiled. The exposed face of the metal button is moderately surface spotted, and along the circumference of its reverse is stamped "26," "W. & Co.," "L" and "Solide."
