The entire circumference is trimmed in steel to outer edges. Rear visor "lobster tail" has the standard nine evenly spaced steel retaining rivets, front visor secured by two rivets. Jäger zu Pferd pattern "cloverleaf " shaped base secured to the body with steel screw posts with correct brass squared nuts and aluminum washers, again, common for wartime Kürassier helmets. Stamped steel Prussian Dragoner (dragoon) helmet Wappen (front plate).

CONDITION: Superb example with all original fittings and only the slightest wear that would be difficult to upgrade. Exterior of helmet shows almost no wear or damage to the black parkarized finish. Only a few very small only two very minor 14mm dings to the rear of the skull. All steel grey-oxidized fittings appear to be original to this Metalhelme and match in age, wear, and colour. As is typical for these helmets, the edge trim is also grey oxidized. All fittings show only slight wear and very minor rust patina. Helmet Wappen (front plate) is secured by two steel loops with leather wedges which appear to be original, i.e. Wappen has never been removed. Large Kürassier pattern (also worn by Jäger zu Pferd) 63mm Prussian Kokarde on the left with only one small paint chip. Kürassier pattern 63mm Reich’s Kokarde on the right with some chipping to the white. Chinstrap is a nice, heavy original with all signs of age and cracking expected from 90+ years of age. Excellent soft vegetable-tanned lamb skin leather ten-finger liner with no damage showing only slight wear. Typical wartime manufacture of thin leather cross-stitched together at the rear. Liner is secured to the metal shell by four large split brads. No fingers torn, original leather cord remains intact but undone. Clear stamp to top underside of skull: "C. E. Junker 1915". Original green painted underside of front visor shows wear to the edge, rear visor is raw finish, inside of the shell has been painted black which appears to be original to the helmet, showing some minor flaking and chipping. Old museum inventory marking on the inside front visor.
