G010162 M1915 STICK GRENADE. (Stielhandgranate) A 1915 model stick grenade, whose sheet metal head and lathed, wooden handle measure 35cm tall. Its 10cm tall, 6cm diameter head has a raised lip along its base and a vertical belt or boot clip, being a section of 15mm wide metal bended over to create a 7cm tall hook, brazed onto its side. Ink stamped against the olive drab paint, is "Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel einsetzen! " (Before Use Detonator insert!). The 35mm diameter, 25mm tall metal collar beneath the head has four rivets along it, fixing it to the handle. The approximately 23cm long, hollow handle has impressed along it "5 1/2 Sek. FAB" and is dated for 1917. A 20mm tall, threaded alloy collar is fixed, again by four rivets, to the base of the handle. Screwed unto this collar is a 45mm diameter alloy cap, 12mm tall, which has doubly rivetted to its base a plate with eight rounded points along its circumference. Original pull string and bead are present. Superb example.
