G009958 OFFICER'S/DRIVERS LEATHER LEGGINGS. (Leder Gamaschen)
BACKGROUND: On somewhat rare occasions, officers would wear leather leg wraps in combination with lace up boots or shoes in place of wearing the tall riding boots. Was quite a bit more popular with British, Canadian and American officer’s of the same time period. The leggings where also used by drivers. Finding German examples can be considered scarce.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Nice matching pair of officer’s or drivers leggings. Approximately 12" tall, brown leather construction. Leather attachment strap with metal roller adjustment buckle. DRGM marked to the interior of each legging. Leather is now somewhat stiff with age, but may become more pliable if properly treated. Scarce.
