G007758 PRUSSIAN INFANTRY EM'S M15 FIELD BLOUSE. (Feldbluse M1915)
BACKGROUND: The M1915 Field Blouse was first adopted on the 21st of September 1915. It was designed to replace the M1910 Field Blouse which was exceedingly more complicated to produce and to also ease the use of already stretched material supplies. The M1915 was not only intended for use by all branches of the army, but would know also be worn by both enlisted and officer ranks. The main physical difference was that the M1915 now had a concealed button front and turned up French cuffs to each sleeve. A new pattern of shoulder strap was introduced at the same, again for uniformity and to simplify production.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Nice quality Prussian Enlisted M1915 Field Blouse. Field-grey wool construction, the tunic features a six button concealed front closure with triple metal hooks and eyes at neck. Tunic has two diagonally angled front hip pockets with straight edged button down flaps. Straight cut sleeves feature French style fold up cuffs. Tunic has a long tail skirt with a central reverse tail skirt vent which features dual vertical scalloped flaps. Interior of tunic is fully lined in grey/green high quality cotton twill. Lining has a horizontal slash pocket to left breast and two vertical slash pockets to reverse of tail skirt vent. Liner has several Army property stamps (EIGENTUM). Tunic retains it original M1915 sew on shoulder straps, piped in white with a red chain stitched "18". (18th Prussian Inf. Regt, XX Army Corps). Tunic shows normal nap wear through out. A few minor moth holes mostly in out of sight areas. All of the buttons look to be original period stitching. Very nice example of a WW1 German combat tunic.
