G005866 PREUßEN (PRUSSIAN) MANNSCHAFTEN (EM’S) ISSUED MODEL 1895 PIONEER INFANTRY PICKELHAUBE.

DESCRIPTION: Model 1895 Preußen (Prussian) leather Pickelhaube for Pionier (pioneer) battalions. All original nickel-silver fittings with correct non-removable spike top, original leather liner, original chinstrap with correct nickel-silver fittings and both original Kokarden.

CONDITION: Excellent condition 1895 Preußen Pionier Pickelhaube. The leather black-lacquered shell and both front and rear leather visors retain a nice gloss finish with only very slight age crazing to the lacquer. The rear visor shows more age, with one heat smudge to the lacquer. The helmet body has its two original holes for the M1895 Preußen (Prussian) eagle Wappen (front plate) which are grommeted in brass (correct) and match the Wappen perfectly. Both V-shaped leather wedges are in place. Absolutely beautiful age toned nickel-silver stamped Preußen eagle Wappen. Stitching on both visors is slightly loose, however stitching is original and intact. Good Preußen (Prussian) Kokarde on the left with some very tiny areas of paint chipping and some age to the white. Reich's Kokarde on the right shows some loss to the white paint. Original chinstrap with correct nickel-silver fittings shows only minor surface crazing. Good, heavy original vegetable-tanned lamb skin leather 9-finger liner with age toning and light greying to the black, no damage. The stitching at the rear has come undone. No fingers torn. No visible unit markings, some hand writing inside the skull in pencil, but unreadable.
