G005462 ALBATROS FACTORY TAIL INSIGNIA.
BACKGROUND:
During the First World War, the Albatros firm was one of the main producers of aircraft for the Imperial German Air Service. The Albatros company logo was applied to the tail section of all the aircraft it produced.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A very rare, original, Albatros factory logo, cut from the tail section of a downed German aircraft. Logo consists of a flying Albatros with a human head wearing a Imperial pattern flight helmet with the word "Albatros" in sun rays overtop. The cut section of canvas fabric measures approximately 16cm x 10cm. The section retains about 65% of the original image. First time I have ever seen one offered for sale and I'm sure it will be the only time we ever see one offered for sale.
