G005262 ALBATROS TYPE 53. DII WIRE TENSION INSTRUCTIONS.

BACKGROUND: The Albatros D.II entered service in 1916 and remained in service until the end of the war in 1918. It was built in much lower numbers than the D.III that replaced it in Dec of 1916. The D.IIs formed part of the initial equipment of Jagdstaffel 2, the first fighter squadron in the German air service. Its was flown by many of the top aces including Manfred von Richthofen and Oswald Boelcke. In total, some 275 machines where built.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A diagram used by ground crews to correctly adjust wire tension on the Albatros D.II. The diagram measures approximately 43cm x 35cm. Shows the expected light age. Rare.
